Storyline Online
Storyline Online (click here) is a website that actors and actresses read childrens books for younger children. I've used it with students and my own children. The actors really grab the attention of the kids with the way they read. It really does make books seem more exciting and gives the kids more of an interest in books. Anything that gives kids more of an interest in books is worth the effort.
It's good to read a story to your son or daughter yourself, but it's also good to enjoy a reading together, without having to do the reading yourself. Have fun with Storyline Online. It's a good learning and bonding opportunity.
To get started, click on the link above. Once you get there, it will give you the option to choose the story you would like to watch/listen to. When you click on a story, it will give you a brief description of the story and show you which actor/actress is doing the reading.
Once you find the story you want to watch/hear, you will click on "Let's read it." Another window will pop-up, and your story will start. Storyline Online uses YouTube to post it's videos. It is possible to just go to YouTube to find the videos, as is linked below, but I suggest using the website instead. While they do block comments on YouTube, which is good, you just never know what the videos on the side of YouTube are going to be, if you go straight to the YouTube website.
Some stories on Storyline Online:
The Tooth, Me and My Cat, To Be a Drum, Guji Guji, Knots on a Counting Rope, No Mirrors in My Nana's House, A Bad Case of Stripes, White Socks Only

Introduction
This blog is to offer some suggestions to parents and teachers about educational sites that are good for kids.
There are far too many times that I've said, "I wish I would have known about that website before."
The websites shared here will be free websites. There are some good pay websites such as Reading Eggs, but I don't think one should have to pay to educate their child. That should be something we all want to happen and should all help to have happen.
